Overview
Karen has been licensed as a counselor for over 10 years. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She attended the University of Denver's Counseling Psychology Program and earned a Master of Arts Degree. Karen worked for a number of years in the community mental health system in the Denver area as a crisis clinician. She started her private practice in 2000. Personal Statement
I have been licensed as a counselor for 10 years, but I am also a real person with hobbies and a family. I grew up in South Texas (sssh don't tell), but have lived in the Denver area for 14 years. I am married and have 2 daughters, 3 dogs, 1 snooty cat and 4 horses. In my "spare" time, I enjoy the outdoors, reading and competing in distance riding events with my horses.I approach therapy as a partnership between me and you. Everyone has problems from time to time, and getting help is a smart way to stop suffering! I am a skilled therapist with many techniques at my disposal, but at the same time I'm down to earth and am not afraid for my clients to know that I'm human. I could list a bunch of stuff about "theoretical orientation" and philosophy of change, and I'm happy to share that information if you're interested, but I'd rather roll up my sleeves and start helping you!
