Overview

Ruth has a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a Master`s Degree in Social Work from the University of California at Berkeley. She has done post-graduate training in the treatment of couples, depression, anxiety and Self Psychology. In addition to her practice, she has taught Social Work and provided consultation. She has been in practice 27 years and is a member of the Illinois Society for Clinical Social Work and the National Association of Social Workers.

Personal Statement

I view my work as a partnership. It is a joint process of learning about each person`s unique self and about the things that have interfered with their ability to experience a satisfying life. Together, we begin to understand how depression, anxiety or feelings of emptiness have come to be and how these feelings have prevented them from expressing their genuine selves. In a safe and supportive relationship, people become aware of old dysfuctional patterns and learn new ways of approaching life`s challenges. I am a caring and supportive therapist and am deeply respectful of each person`s values and of their unique journey.
