Personal Statement
It has been one of the great honors in my life to work as a therapist and a privilege be invited to know and work with people deeply. I enjoy being present to the lives of others and find people complex and interesting. My focus is on possibilities for the lives of the clients I work with. I like working with both men and women.
Many years ago, I worked for several years at an addiction treatment center. Since that time I have worked extensively with clients in my counseling center setting to look at the underlying issues that contribute to all addictive tendencies from co-dependency to other addictions to the current rise in internet addictions. I worked at a pastoral counseling center for 17 years where the therapists were theologically and psychologically trained. I am very willing to discuss spiritual issues or not as a part of the therapy process depending on what the client wishes and where he or she is in life.
I like to approach therapy in a creative way using interventions such as art or journaling. I think that getting to the symbols and meaningful metaphors in our lives can facilitate the therapy process. I, myself have an art background and have worked as a professional watercolor painter, although art therapy requires no experience and is often better without!
I have been married for 37 years and have both children and grandchildren. I am grateful for my life and feel blessed for all I have learned. I like being useful, facilitating healing in others.
