Personal Statement
I specialize in behavioral medicine and health psychology, and approach therapy from a wellness, mind-body and whole-person perspective. My time-limited, phased, and client-focused therapy model focuses on healing from emotional distress while encouraging you to take action and make positive changes in your life.
I see therapy as a collaborative effort based on your values, culture and life goals. I will encourage you to use your unique personality and strengths for personal change, taking responsibility, learning new and healthy skills, and to make commitments toward action for personal growth and development. I focus on empowerment, developing one’s potential, lifestyle wellness, and values-driven living.
In terms of approach and methods, I employ many different techniques to help you address the problems or issues that you face. I attempt to take my professional knowledge, skills and experience and tailor them to fit your specific needs and situation. I encourage you to take an active role with me to determine appropriate treatment objectives and plans, and ask you to make a commitment to action necessary to accomplish your goals.
Counseling and psychotherapy is both challenging and rewarding. Research indicates that many people find therapy beneficial in terms of better relationships, solving specific problems, and reducing personal distress. I endeavor to make this environment safe, a place for healing and recovery, and an environment for healthy behavioral change.
