Intelligence Quotient (IQ)

A measure of intelligence (or intellectual potential) derived from norms provided by standardized intelligence tests.

When determining whether or not a child has a learning disorder such as ADD, intelligence testing provides the yard stick against which his or her learning and behavioral development is compared.
