Overview
Bernie Golden has been involved in clinical practice for over twenty-five years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He primarily works with adults and with some late adolescents. He has extensive experience working with clients manage anger, anxiety and depression. His experience also includes working with individuals with bipolar disorder.
He has co-authored New Hope for People With Bipolar Disorder (Three Rivers Press/Randome House, 2000; 2007, 2nd edition). Dr. Golden is also the author of Healthy Anger: How to help children and teens make sense of and manage anger (Oxford University Press, Fall 2002). His most recent book is Unlock Your Creative Genius (Prometheus, 2006). This book reflects his work in helping clients to both identify and engage in their creative passions.
Dr. Golden was an Associate Professor at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology - Chicago Campus, involved in the education of masters and doctoral level students in clinical psychology.
In addition to individual therapy, Dr. Golden also offers workshops and classes in the area of anger management.

Personal Statement
Through shared discussion, support and feedback, I help clients identify and develop new awareness, strengths and problem solving skills to better manage the complexity of life's challenges. I collaborate with clients by helping them clarify their thoughts, make sense of their emotional life, explore their interpersonal skills, and/or increase their body awareness. Through our work, they are helped to live a more enriched life in relationships with others and themselves, in leisure, at home and in the work setting.
