Personal Statement
I love what I do and I've been doing it over 25 years. Training, education, techniques, and experience all contribute to any therapist's ability to help others. But I think what makes me most effective as a therapist is my curiosity. I'm genuinely interested in finding out from my clients what works for them, what they've accomplished, and how they've previously overcome obstacles in their lives. I think my curiousity is contagious. When my clients get excited about change and about realizing their strengths, my job becomes easy and incredibly rewarding.
I think another important quality that I bring to each session is an ability to connect. I'm down-to-earth, straight-forward, and direct. I use humor as often as possible. I can also cry with my clients. I take pleasure in the number of times clients have said to me variations of, "I thought therapy had to be hard work."
I've been married 25 years and have two children, ages 15 and 20. My family is a great support to me and have taught me a lot about being a good therapist.
I enjoy music (I used to play in a band), reading, and sports, especially golf, when I have the time.
