Personal Statement
I love my job. Not only do I get a great sense of satisfaction from watching my clients' lives improve, but I also have a lot of fun.
Relationships make the world go 'round, so to have a happy life it is essential to be good at relationships. The problem is that we all learn most of our relationship styles and skills from our parents, and most of our parents weren't relationship experts. In fact, many of our parents had lousy relationships themselves.
My clients have found that therapy is an effective way to become more aware of their relationship styles and to learn the skills that lead to great relationships.
Here are some of the things that I am really good at:
* Helping clients become aware of their relationship styles
* Helping clients make the most of their strengths
* Teaching general communication skills
* Teaching assertiveness skills
* Helping clients get to know themselves and how to live their values
* Teaching mood and emotion management skills
* Teaching stress management skills
* Helping clients set goals and make action plans
I believe that therapy is first and foremost a relationship between two human beings. If you become my client, I will be dedicated to your success. I will cheer you on when you falter and make mistakes. I will praise you when you do something well. I will give you honest feedback and encourage you to give feedback to me. I will teach you the skills that you need to know and make sure that you know how to use them.
No matter what kinds of relationship difficulties you are having, I'm here to help. Since 1989, I have helped people improve relationships with spouses, children, other family members, friends, and business associates. I work with individuals and couples.
I am a licensed psychologist (PSY12642) and have been in private practice in San Francisco since 1992.
I'm a member of these professional organizations:
* San Francisco Psychological Association
* California Psychological Association
* American Psychological Association
* Society of Psychologists in Management
