Sunlight Gives Your Brain A Boost

Researchers at the Universities of Liege and Surrey have released findings associating exposure to daylight with increased cognitive function. In the study, Daytime Light Exposure Dynamically Enhances Brain Responses, subjects were exposed to bright white light then performed a cognitive test requiring attention only to sound. Results showed that even a brief exposure to light substantially increased alertness and cognitive ability. The findings suggest that even small doses of light during the day can do much to regulate brain function in areas associated with alertness and non-visual cognitive processing.
