Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Effective for Children with OCD

A review published in the October 18, 2006 edition of The Cochrane Library shows cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to be equally successful a treatment as medication for children and adolescents with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Analyzing four clinical trials, researchers found that CBT was more effective than a placebo pill and that medication showed no superior benefits to CBT. They also found that a combination of CBT and medication was more effective than medication alone.
