Article: Dealing with 'Desk-Rage'

"Desk-rage," or outbursts of anger at work, are on the rise. In a 2001 survey of workers, 42 percent reported yelling or verbal abuse in their office while 10 percent reported physical violence.

Corporate consultants report a growing acceptance of such behavior as Gen-X workers accustomed to airing emotions and a niceness-as-weakness attitude flood the workplace. To deal with workplace tension, they recommend choosing battles wisely, not taking your job too seriously and above all, simply dealing with the stress.
