Robert B. Hernandez, Psy.D. recieved his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2001. This completed his ninth year of university training focusing on a general Clinical Psychology Model. Dr. Hernandez has also has received training in Jungian Studies, which focuses on the Analytical Model of Psychology. He has received training in the areas of substance abuse, body image, weight disorders, and mood disorders. His experience includes working with adolescents, which include juvenile offenders, families, couples of both hetrosexual and homosexual relationships, and the elderly dealing with dementias. Dr. Hernandez work also includes administering psychological testing for learning disorders, dementia screenings, personality testing, and for legal/court proceedings. Robert B. Hernandez continues to attend seminars which focus on increasing his overall expertise, and enhance his skills.

Personal Statement

The path to healing is a path to discovery. The path is sometimes long, and difficult. It is made easier with a companion and guide who is professionally trained in listening and capturing the words from within you. This is how I view my role as I accompany you on your journey.

The word Psychologist comes from the Greek word "psicologos", which means the "word of the psyche". A psychologist, as myself, can then be viewed as the "word-catcher" from the psyche, or the unconscious. The unconscious contains the answers we are looking for. The answers need to be brought up into consciousness. It is then that we are aware of ourselves. We can make conscious decisions and live our lives more fully; consciously. This is what it means to live wholly, or in integration with our "selves". Symptoms can be viewed as messages from the psyche, and we are to listen and learn from these messages. Whether anxiety or depression, we can learn to hear the message they communicate to us.
