Dr. Herreid is a former special education teacher who has worked with children and families for 20 years. She earned her doctoral degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1991. She has worked in residential treatment and school psychology, and maintains an interest in children and school. Dr. Herreid has been in private practice since 1991, with experience with individuals struggling with life change and characterlogical issues.

Personal Statement

Many people start therapy during a time of personal crisis, so I can start by recommending that you slow down, breathe deeply, and allow us to focus on solutions to your dilemma. You CAN make changes to improve your life, though lasting change will require hard work and commitment on your part. You will get out of what you put into your therapy. I am a mature woman with children and complex relationships. People have asked how I can offer marital advice to others when I am a divorced person. My answer is that therapy is not "advice," but rather a guided personal development and exploration. Who better to guide than someone who has traveled the same road and understands the pitfalls?
