Personal Statement
My hope is to be able to listen, understand, and guide someone through the problems that are getting in the way of feeling more happy and fulfilled.
I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective which means that I try to ascertain the underlying emotional issues which contribute to the difficulties someone is experiencing on a day to day basis. We work to reduce the current symptoms while determining the root of the emotional issue. This two-pronged approach is helpful in order to cope effectively with similar problems as they arise in the future.
I spend the first session or two getting to know my patient, learning about the problems they are experiencing, and assessing what the treatment needs will be. I then give recommendations as to what I think will be most helpful. Throughout the course of treatment we continually discuss progress and future goals. Please feel free to call if you have any questions about my practice.
