Personal Statement
I enjoy my work as a counselor. It is exciting to watch people grow in their understanding of themselves and the people around them.
I am an empathetic listener. My clients feel accepted and supported. I work towards building a trusting, therapeutic alliance with my clients. I emphasize building upon the client's strengths; reinforcing and encouraging the positive. I understand the developmental tasks and struggles of children, adolescents, adults and families. One of my goals is to bring families closer together by opening up communication and increasing understanding.
I use many different treatment modalities to meet client's different needs and styles. Along with cognitive therapy, I may utilize expressive and interactive therapies, including art and equine assisted therapy.
