Personal Statement

I believe the most important criteria for being a counselor is to quickly and comfortably create an atmosphere of caring, compassion and competency. From this grows the ability to provide support, validate a person's concerns and to generate practical problem solving. I have first hand knowledge of depression, family suffering and conflict and the understanding to patiently wait for the optimal time to offer advice. I am familiar with many MD's locally and work extensively with them when medication is deemed beneficial. Making counseling affordable is a priority. I respect the different beliefs that individuals have and taylor my treatment to best utilize the existing strengths and resources each has. Lastly, I always proceed from the basis of hope and positive change.
