Has completed thousands of bariatric evals. Dr. Lisa C. Lorence obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She received her B.A. in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University. Her doctoral internship was completed at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte's Counseling Center. Her dissertation examined the relationship between optimism and therapy treatment outcomes. I feel strongly that people often need some support and direction to get through difficult moments in their lives. All behavior serves a purpose. When we identify the purpose of behavior, we can identify how to change those aspects of our lives that have become destructive or hurtful. This is particularly true when a disease attacks our bodies.

Whether acute or chronic, illness can leave us vulnerable, afraid, and insecure. If we can improve our capacity to cope with illness and other forces that seem beyond our control, purposeful behavior can take a positive turn. Sharing the story of one's illness, seeking and providing support to others, and taking care of oneself are three essential ingredients in coping with health problems and unhealthy behavior. Addressing how people think about themselves, the world, and the future, plays a major role in the therapy process. These are the cornerstones of my work as this partnership takes form.

My office is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mecklenburg County. The primary treatment approach I use is Adlerian psychotherapy. AdultsCouples Female</flattened-content>
