Overview
Elissa Pavese began her career post B.A. (Reed college; social anthropology) as a foster care worker for Catholic Charities in New York City. She moved on to become a residential treatment and family therapist at The Wiltwyck School for Boys, a facility noted for intensive on-the-job training. During this time she took courses in psychology at Columbia University and The New School for Social Research. After relocating to Denver, Colorado she became involved in private practice in the areas covered above first under the auspices of Kaiser Permanente and then as a member of the Denver Mental Health Group. She took her M.A. in Counseling Psychology (Lesley College Outreach Program) in 1991 and was licensed as a Professional Counselor in 1994.

Personal Statement
I am an interactive therapist with a down-to-earth approach. I work with people from early teens to late middle age. I work with individuals, couples, families and groups. My theoretical frameworks are mainly cognitive/behavioral and psychodynamic. I have many years of experience with a wide range of problems. I ally myself with the client's capacity to grow and change.
