Overview

G. Edward Riley, M.Div., CH, began practicing hypnotherapy some twelve years ago on a case by case basis with clients referred by physicians and mental health practitioners. He subsequently entered full time practice founding Hypnosis Unlimited, Inc. In addition to holding a master's degree and being certified at an advanced level, he is an ordained Episcopal priest certified a pastoral addictions counselor, and available for pastoral counseling as well as hypnotherapy.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of consciousness in which the critical faculty is by-passed and acceptable selective thinking is established. It happens automatically as we go to sleep and as we awaken. In fact, most people go in and out of hypnosis many more times than twice a day and often describe it as daydreaming.

The hypnotherapist doesn't "do" anything "to" the client. Rather he teaches, coaches, or guides the client into his or her own individual state of hypnosis and then helps the client mobilize their own subconscious resources to make desired changes.

The mind, functioning in its subconscious mode, can make dramatic permanent changes in thought, feeling and behavior to significantly improve the quality of life.
