Overview

Dr. Sharon has maintained a private practice as a psychotherapist in Colorado since 1977. He also has considerable experience working in mental health centers and doing part-time college teaching and business consulting. Jim received his doctoral degree in counseling psychology from The University of Northern Colorado in 1977. Previously, he attained a Master's degree in counseling from American University (1970) and a Bachelor's degree in psychology at Pennsylvania State University (1968). Jim completed an intensive year-long training program in family therapy in 1971.

Personal Statement

I am an eclectic counselor who places a premium on developing a strong relationship with my clients. I adapt my counseling approaches to clients' needs, requests, and level of motivation and sophistication. The majority of people I work with attend weekly or biweekly sessions and complete therapy within 8-12 meetings. I accept many health insurance plans and have a sliding fee scale for those without insurance or who do not opt to use it.
