Personal Statement
Thoughtful and caring, I work with children and adolescents and help their parents understand and better manage their child's difficulty. I take a strength-based approach in that after understanding what is not working in your child's life, I focus on what needs to be right and help you make that happen. I am skilled at knowing child/adolescent development inside and out and can determine if other needs exist for your child/adolescent. I can make appropriate referrals to other specialist and coordinate that care for you. I work closely with parents and coach them on the best way to help their child. This is what parents find to be the most helpful of all. When our work is done, your child/adolescent will be stronger and you will feel more confident as a parent. You will know how to handle problems if they surface again.
I also have a strong passion for helping mothers and adult women. Female development is so closely entwined in the roles women play in the lives of others. As sister, daughter, mother, wife and partner, distress in the form of anxiety, depression and low self-worth often comes from feeling overwhelmed and unsuccessful in these roles or feeling conflict in balancing ones own desires and needs with the demands of others.
