Deborah has an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University. She employs a bio-psycho-social approach. She has obtained her Licensed Professional Counselor certifiction in Virginia. She uses solution-focused techniques to help clients cope with immediate issues. She provides psychotherapy services for individuals including children, adolescents, adults and families as well as Career and Group Counseling. Specialties include play-therapy, substance abuse and trauma.

Personal Statement

My ideal client may have fear about the unfamiliar, but they are willing to try and stretch their wings in an effort to look for unknown wonders that may exist around the corner. We will work with a cognitive behavioral approach to deal with the initial presenting issue while maintaining a view on future goals as a next step. I believe in acting in the role of a guide as each client learns to recognize their own journey. I am hopeful that together we can identify where the client would like to go and how best to get there together.

I work extensively with children using expressive, play therapy and sandtray techniques. I am working toward finishing my designation as a certified play therapist. I present opportunities for adults and children to have guided imagery tours to address current or past stresses. Additional specializations include substance abuse and trauma.
