Overview

Julie Victor has been in private practice since 1995. After receiving a Master's Degree from University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration (SSA) in 1986, Julie gained a two year certification in family therapy. More recently, Julie has taught social work students at SSA.

In addition to formal education, Julie uses her own life experiences to inform her work. As an example, she developed a "Passage into Motherhood" group to help first time parents adjust to this profound experience after having her own child.

Personal Statement

I believe strongly in the power of talk: that my job is to listen attentively and help you talk about your concerns in order to understand your circumstance in a new way. At times, I will suggest different ways to look at a situation. My approach is supportive and positive, highlighting your strengths but also helping you to look critically the behaviors, beliefs and patterns that are not working for you.
